Welcome to PokeManda, where the goal is to catch some Pokemon through reading!

The main goal of this reading challenge is to spend the year catching Pokemon through reading prompts. There's also the chance to get a shiny Pokemon by completing an activity prompt alongside the reading prompt. Shiny prompts can only be counted if they are done after you start the book that you read for the prompt. They can be completed any time after starting, but as long as it's after you start the book, then it counts.Just know, you do have the option to make this last longer than just 2026. In 2027, we will add on more Pokemon, so I recommend trying to at least collect as many as you can so you don't have so many rolling over, but I'm sure that I'll have at least a few that will since I will be doing Nuzlocke Mode.

Trainer Mode

- Goal: Catch 6 Pokemon to make a team
- You cannot double up, but you can repeat prompts

Champion Mode

- Goal: Catch all the Pokemon, but evolutionary chains only require you to read for one prompt
- You can double up
- You will still need to complete anywhere between 39 and 78 prompts.

Nuzlocke Mode

- Goal: Catch each and every Pokemon in the region
- You can double up
- You will still need to complete anywhere between 76 and 151 prompts.

I didn't do a video this round, but I did a blog post. You can find that here.Just a note, I didn't make separate graphics for each Pokemon this month. If you would like those, I can make them. My Canva is just fighting with my on my laptop and I haven't had access to the PC, so I didn't want to keep fighting...

Abra

Read a book set in a location you'd like to teleport to (or from)
This can be a real place or imaginary. The book doesn't have to be entirely set in this location, but it has to be more that just a passing through. So, say you're reading a road trip book. You could count a place that the characters stop at, but not one that they just point out as they're driving by.
"Teleport" somewhere by turning on some ambience
Feel free to do this while doing something else. Turn on a magical forest while cleaning or a soothing underwater video when going to bed. Just make sure you're keeping an eye out and avoiding AI ambience videos.

Kadabra

Read a book with a character who can use magic to move things in an "unusual" way
This doesn't have to be telekinesis, but bonus points if it is! You can choose to read a book with a shapeshifter who moves something in that form or maybe someone who has shadow magic and they move something using that
Move something in your life (whether physically, digitally, or emotionally)
You could count this as rearranging a room in your home, switching from using one software to another to do something on your computer, using a different app for tracking something, emotionally moving on from something like a book that broke your heart

Alakazam

Read a book that teaches you something
You could choose to read a non-fiction for this prompt. Or you could choose to read a book about a character that's different that you so you're learning about their experience or maybe a book that has recipes in it or even just a book that discusses a topic you didn't know much about.
Use your knowledge to teach someone something
You can choose to try to teach someone that you know a lot about like a craft or something you've researched alot. Or you could even just answer a question that someone has about something you know about.

Machop

Read a short, but powerful book
Just read a book that isn't very long, but sends a powerful message.
Add movement to your routine (adjust how you need)
This can be anything from doing a full blown workout 5 days a week to going for a walk a couple times a week or even just stretching before you sit down at your desk for work. Obviously make this as accessible for you as you need. If you can't do a lot of movement, do what you can.

Machoke

Read a book with a training sequence (or training at all)I honestly don't know how many books have a "training sequence," but if you find one, make sure you share it in Discord! Otherwise, a book that just has someone training for something works. This doesn't have to be restricted to just fantasy or "fighting" books. You could count a book that has someone learning a skill and they are practicing it and "training" themselves.Help someone with something
In my research, Machoke seemed to be mentioned often as helping someone do something. So take some time to help someone out. This could be donating time or money to a charity, spreading word about a charity you believe in, or you could even count helping someone who says they need help with something. Like me saying I'm struggling coming up with prompts! Or even voting to pick books for my Weeding Wednesday posts!

Machamp

Read a book that keeps "throwing the punches"
Someone mentioned in Discord to do a prompt about a thick book because Machamp is always punching and since I did that prompt before, I decided to spin it a little and came up with this one! Whether this is a book that emotionally keeps hitting you, a book with a lot of action scenes, or maybe even a book that you keep putting on your TBR and then not getting to.
Gift a book (donating counts, as well!)
Not everyone has the means to gift books to people, so you can always count donating a book to a Little Free Library, library, or thirft store. If that's also something you can't do, feel free to count recommending books to people.

Bellsprout

Read a fast read
Read a novella or a graphic novel or a short audiobook. Whatever you would count as a fast read. If you read a certain genre faster than others, that could count as well!
Cool down somewhere
Bellsprout loves hot and humid places and since I released these prompts in June, cool down a bit!

Weepinbell

Read a book with plants on the cover
I don't think I've done this prompt before... If I did then oops.
Break something into smaller tasks to complete it
Okay. If you were in the Discord when I was planning these, you'll know I said that one of the prompts was... questionable. THIS IS IT. I came up with this one because Weepinbell will... cut up prey if it's too big to fit in its mouth... so yeah. Let's be productive! Heh.

Victreebel

Read a book that makes you laugh out loudMake someone laugh
Both of these prompts go back to the fact that James was always being eaten by Victreebel. That's all I remember and I just had to tie these prompts into that

Tentacool

Read a book that takes place mostly in/on water
I made this one a bit more broad by saying that it could take place in water (think water creatures or mermaids/sirens) or on water (like pirates).
Hydrate yourself!
Sometimes Tentacools can be found shriveled up on the beach... but if you toss them back into the water, they'll go back to normal. Let's not reach that shriveled up point ourselves... stay hydrated, friends.

Tentacruel

Read a book that ended up longer than you expected
Whether it's a book that you went into the store and realized was a lot thicker than you expected or maybe the audiobook was longer than you thought it would be. Or you could even count a book that you expected to finish quickly, but then it took you a lot longer to get through.
Read 80 pages
I was honestly shocked when I found out that Tentacruel has 80 TENTACLES! 80! So I wanted to tie the prompt to that fact and this was the most accessible I could find. You can break this up over many sessions or days if needed. If you want to challenge yourself, you can. But you don't have to.
